International Women's Day
Various programs were organized to celebrate the day in a meaningful way. The theme selected for this year’s celebration was “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”. Earlier Principal of the college Dr R Dev Das lighted the traditional lamp to inaugurate the program. In his address to the students he said that International Women’s Day is a chance to celebrate the achievements of women around the world who have made a difference. This day is celebrated as a salute to all the women from every economic and political background for their love, patience and hard work. Celebrating this day every year is a call out to everyone around the world to stand up for the equality and freedom for the women, as well as their contribution to society. Dr C Pusphavalli, HOD, English Department and Incharge of the SAKSHAM CELL said that the purpose of this day is to focus on various themes such as innovation, the portrayal of women in the media, or the importance of education and career opportunities. She added that paying homage to the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women, the day brings an air of change with it.Miss Gouri, Guest Faculty also spoke on the importance of the day. A skit based on the theme was also staged by the students of English Department which was whole heartedly appreciated by the gathering. Miss Aruna Thomar, BCS I and Dr A K Shukla, HOD(Hindi) also recited self composed poem . The main attraction of the program was the showcasing of different faces of women serving in the society by the Ancolites (Girls).Students of the Music dept presented a colourful musical program to mark the day The program ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Nazma Begum, Assistant Professor (Hindi)/member of the Saksham Cell.
